  I hate to post anything negative about this place because they mean well and provide a needed service to people who have nowhere else to turn but people still need to be warned about their bed bug problem. I went to their shelter in January 2018 because my ex was stalking me. My first night there, within an hour of falling asleep, I was covered in bed bug bites. I had so many bites that they woke me up and I ran to the bathroom. I'm highly allergic to bug bites and I had an immediate reaction. I had bites all over my neck, shoulder, and arm. It was horrible. I immediately got the staff. The other women in the room said they had been getting bit and had reported it to the staff but nothing had been done. I hadn't slept in days from being terrified every night, and I was exhausted, but I immediately packed my bags and left, driving back to Asheville at 11 pm. I slept in my car behind a church that night. I emailed the shelter the next day with pictures of all the bites but no one ever replied. To this day, I've never heard back from them or been contacted.
  
  Unfortunately, I had some books on the bed with me that night and brought the bed bugs home with me. My apartment has to be heat-treated to get rid of them, which is very expensive (from $600 to $1500). Thankfully my apartment complex is paying for the treatment but other people may not be so lucky. In addition, I have numerous permanent scars from the bites, including ones on my face, and no one deserves that. I'm very thankful I don't have kids that would have been affected also.
  
  If someone had cared enough to contact me to let me know that they were going to address the problem, I wouldn't be leaving this review but no one has. When your scared for your life, you don't need the trauma of bed bugs on top of everything else you're going through. If you need to go here, don't put anything on the bed or near the bed until you know if there are bed bugs in the room. Inspect the mattress for signs of bed bugs (you can google the signs). Ask the women in the room if they've been getting bit. And if you want to be extra careful, put alcohol on your face and neck before you go to bed. That will discourage any bed bugs from biting your face or neck, preventing any scarring.
